Reverend Dr. Bonnie Dlott came to us in September of 2006 as our half-time consulting minister. In June of 2007 the congregation voted to call her as their settled minister. She is a recent graduate of Starr King School for the Ministry, and still serves as an associate faculty member there on occasion. Before entering seminary, Rev. Dlott worked at the UCLA School of Medicine as a post-doctoral fellow in a lab that studied genetic diseases related to metabolism. Her love of biology and the natural world initially led her to that work, but eventually she felt called to work in a field more connected with people. While at home with her two young children she discovered the Unitarian Universalism, which attracted her with its embrace of nature-based approaches to spirituality. In 1999 she experienced a calling into the ministry. Rev. Dlott has been an active trainer and teacher for all levels for the “Our Whole Lives” comprehensive sexuality education program for the Pacific Central District of the Unitarian Universalist Association for almost ten years. “Sexuality is an integral part of who we are, so in our community we approach sexuality education as religious education. In this program we emphasize the values of respect and responsibility.” Rev. Dlott lives in Pleasant Hill, California, with her partner Rick and her teen aged daughter. Her son attends college in San Luis Obispo. She loves to garden, dance, hike, and camp. She is thrilled to be ministering with UUFNB, a community that she finds to be “open, warm, accepting, and dedicated to living out their Unitarian Universalist values in the larger North San Francisco Bay Area.” Contact Rev. Dlott at minister.uufnb@mac.com. |
