Religious Education

Religious Education, along with our worship services, is at the heart of our lives as Unitarian Universalists. In fact, we believe strongly in lifelong learning, so we have developed a very strong program of classes for children and adults.

Your staff and volunteer Religious Education Committee have been hard at work to bring you and your children programs that will engage and connect them more deeply to Unitarian Universalism.

This year, 2009-10, we will be offering three classes with age appropriate curriculum during our Sunday service.

On Sunday mornings, from 11:00 to noon, we will offer a preschool class for children up to six years of age, and an elementary class, and middle school/junior high aged class.

Pre School Children will learn about our Unitarian Universalist rituals and values, in a simplified format.  The elementary aged children (ages six through eight), will be using the curriculum "Treasure Hunting", which teaches the excitement of discovering their world and saving what is important.

The older children will study our Unitarian Universalist religious values in a three-part curriculum; UU Identity, Moral Tales(social justice) and the Interdependent Web (a study of our place in the cosmos). All of these classes are taught by dedicated volunteers, through the use of story and hands-on, engaging projects.

Lifelong learning, especially where our youth are concerned, is a cooperative venture, so parents are encouraged to help out in their children’s classes during the church year. Children will need to be registered for their classes. For a registration form or for further information, please call me at 294-2759.
